Another wild week in the boiler room. The small boiler (sb) had an “issue” Tuesday am at around o-dark thirty (of course). Luckily no one was in the boiler room when it happened. It’s hard to tell exactly the sequence of events, though my own inspection of the crime scene makes it out to be a repair plug in the fire tube boiler. Seems like it let go, releasing a rush of pressure and probably creating more with steam, which then followed the tubes over to the exhaust side and blew off the exhaust fan. Still waiting for a few more parts to put it back in operation, hopefully by Monday. As my friend Oz noted, who knew growing lilies was so dangerous?
